Lavender's linalool and linalyl acetate are the compounds behind the scent's effect on stress and sleep — the most researched aromatherapy oil there is. It is also traditionally used on minor burns, bites and blemishes, and is one of the few oils gentle enough for a drop on the skin.*

How to brew

How to use it

A little goes a long way — start with a drop or two.

For sleep & calm

  1. 2 drops on the pillow or a tissue
  2. Or 3–4 drops in a diffuser
  3. 5–6 drops in a warm bath
  4. 1 drop on each temple, massaged in

On the skin

  1. Dilute 2–3 drops per tsp of carrier oil
  2. Patch-test on the inner arm
  3. Apply to minor bites, blemishes or dry skin
  4. Avoid eyes

Blend it. Lavender softens stronger oils — try 1 drop of oregano with 3 of lavender in a carrier oil for a cold-season chest rub.
